The Quest to Purify the Healed Heart

After Domi died, his Healed Heart, which had been alive and beating, became still, stoney, and cold. The Chosen decided that they needed to reinvigorate it so that it would serve as a symbol that would rally all Taurs to the cause of Taur unity.

Meanwhile, a healed but frail Kular summoned the Chosen. He had an ancient stone tablet that Domi had given him to be used when the time was right. It was carved with these words:

"The First shall be the Last, Be he who marks the Path, To guide the Chosen Few Till Stone is Flesh anew!"

When Kular read this, he was possessed by the spirit of is Tarsus, the first of the Taurs, the sire of the Taur races. This spirit said that through the grace of Alemi and Gargul, the Healed heart could be made alive again.

Tarsus also taught the Chosen, saying, "The form I have now, that of centaur, minotaur and liontaur combined is the original form I had as the first taur. My progeny, however, looked as you do today. They were separated into the three distinct races. The physical differences in time became mental and social ones; the races began to divide into tribes. When the heart was presented to the tribes the sundering took place precisely because they were so divided.”

"You ask what 'Reunite the Taurs' means. It is no less a task than conquering the racial hatreds that exist between the three races, overcoming the stereotypes and petty jealousies, banishing their fear, envy and pride. Only then can a single society arise once more, a united Taur state, made up of all three races acting together in harmony. This, make no mistake, is a monumental task”

"Now when Domi called each of you, and bade you reunite my Heart, it was the first step on the path to healing the rift begun so long ago. The Heart was to be a symbol of unity between the Taur races, a banner behind which the three races could begin to come together once more.

"Now, through your faith, the dead Heart may beat once more, and the banner may be reinstated. But before the Heart can be reanimated, it must first be cleansed. And the only place this can be done is in the most Holy of sanctuaries, and by the most Holy of divine representatives in the Wold. You must travel many miles to the East, to the Temple of Light, in far off Plateau City. There you must seek out the High Priest, and bid her cleanse the Heart, to prepare it for the rituals to follow."

But the True Taur did not reveal what to do after that.

So the Chosen set out on the Merry Mermaid to sail to Plateau City. There, Zeoll died, but the Heart was purified. The Chosen brought the Heart home, where Kular/Tarsus revals the next step: “To restore the Heart, it must be placed on the altars of each of the three Temples of Domi on the Taur islands that were destroyed when the Great God died. You must then spend one night in prayer and supplication at each of the three temples."

First, the Chosen prayed for a night at the Sanctuary of the Soul on Minotaur Isle. Then the same at the Clearspring Temple on Centaur Isle. Then at an old altar on Wemic Isle. Finally, they brought the Heart back to Bridge Isle and Hearthold Keep. There, Kular/Tarsus touched the Heart and then faded away. When he was gone, leaving the Heart behind, pink and beating again.
